TRAb are antibodies that stimulate the thyroid to overproduce hormones. It is the specific marker for Graves' disease - the most common cause of hyperthyroidism.

The test is used when low TSH and raised thyroid hormones are confirmed, to determine the cause.

What does low TRAb mean?

Negative TRAb makes Graves' disease less likely.

What does high TRAb mean?

Positive TRAb strongly suggests Graves' disease.
