Anti-CCP is a specific marker for rheumatoid arthritis. The antibodies can be present years before joint symptoms appear.
The value is more specific to RA than rheumatoid factor and helps with both diagnosis and prognosis.
What does low Anti-CCP mean?
Negative anti-CCP makes RA less likely but does not rule out the disease.
What does high Anti-CCP mean?
Positive anti-CCP strongly suggests rheumatoid arthritis and should prompt referral to a rheumatologist.
